Why Does America Feel So Spiritually Dark Right Now?
Judy McEachran

Why does America feel so spiritually dark right now? This article explores what Scripture says about light and darkness, how a nation drifts morally and spiritually, and how believers are called to carry Christ’s light faithfully in this moment. πŸ“œ The Meaning Behind the Name

In Scripture, names are declarations. Rooted in Hebrew language and culture, a name often captures a moment, a prayer, or a profound encounter with God. Some are given in response to answered prayers. Others are assigned or changed by God Himselfβ€”marking a transformation of identity and purpose. These names tell a story about who God is and how He moves in human lives. In this puzzle, match the meaning to the name!

A Prayer for Those Who Have Wronged Us
By: Emily Rose Massey

Bible Reading:
β€œAbove all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.” - 1 Peter 4:8, ESV

Listen or Read Below:

My husband and I run an online ministry that helps people on their Christian journey out of the prosperity gospel movement- a movement that proclaims that the blood of Jesus has purchased for all believers a promised life of health, wealth, and abundance in earthly pleasures. This is a dangerously false message that undermines the beauty of the finished work of Christ, which brings justification and forgiveness. The teachings in this movement can truly shipwreck someone’s faith- we ourselves were ensnared by this false teaching, so it is something he and I are very passionate to defend against and proclaim truth whenever possible.

β€œJacob’s sons became jealous of their brother Joseph and sold him to be a slave in Egypt. But God was with him and brought him safely through all his troubles.” Acts 7:9-10(GNT)

When faced with great adversity and hardship, Joseph remained resilient because he depended on God’s presence, no matter where he was.

There’s a phrase that’s used five times in Joseph’s storyβ€”and anytime something is said five times in Scripture, God wants you to pay close attention. This phrase is essentially, β€œThe Lord was with Joseph.”

Acts 7:9-10 says, β€œJacob’s sons became jealous of their brother Joseph and sold him to be a slave in Egypt. But God was with him and brought him safely through all his troubles” (GNT).

Jospeh knew that no matter what the setback was, God was with him. God was with Joseph when his brothers threw him in the pit and when they sold him to the traders. God brought him safely through all his troubles.

We Can Be Still
By: Anne Peterson

Be still and know that I am God. - Psalm 46:10

The hardest thing for us to do is to be still. They say we should have been called human doings instead of human beings. But one of the most valuable things we can do is to learn how to rest in God. How to honestly lean on him with all our weight.

God tells us we just trust in him and not in our own understanding. Proverbs 3:5. And yet, as soon as we start having trials, the first thing we try to do is figure it out. God tells us that his thoughts are higher than our ways, but that doesn’t stop us from thinking we can somehow figure it out.

David was someone called the man after God’s own heart. David would look at the situation at hand, but he’d also look back at the God who was there for his other challenges. As everyone else shivered at the thought of facing the Philistine, not the shepherd boy. Why? Did he have super strength? No. But he knew God Almighty. And David knew that the same God who protected him from the lion and the bear would also protect him from whatever he faced. And in this case, it happened to be a giant. 1 Samuel 17: 32- 37.

The giant looked at David, and the Bible tells us he despised him. And yet, we see in 1 Samuel 17:45-51, David relied on his God. David came against Goliath in the name of the Lord Almighty God. And David didn’t take the glory for his victory. From the first moment, he acknowledged it would be by God’s strength and might that David would be victorious.

Daily Hope with Rick Warren

rick warrens daily hope new banner may 2022

β€œAll of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own.” Isaiah 53:6 (NLT)

God sees everyone as valuable and worth seeking, finding, and saving. The Bible says, β€œ[God] desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:4 ESV).

But many people are spiritually lost. This means they’re following their own plan for their lives rather than God’s plan.

But what do spiritually lost people actually lose? They lose several things, but today we’ll look at just two: They lose their direction and their protection.

You can see this in the story of the lost sheep in Luke 15:3-6. It’s about a shepherd who leaves 99 saved sheep to go and search for his one lost sheep. He doesn’t say, β€œI’ve got 99 saved sheep, so forget the lost one!” No, they all matter to him. And when he finds the lost sheep, β€œhe joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home” (Luke 15:5 NIV) to celebrate.
